What a great year the 2016 football season has been at Dragonland! With twelve teams hitting the field including our inaugural U15 Girls side, this year Scammell was a vibrant and exciting place to be on a Sunday, from frosty early morning games to soggy late afternoons at Grub @ The Club.
To the U8’s, U9’s and 10’s teams who gave it their all in their Lightening Carnivals – congratulations and well done. You all showed true spirit and determination and did the club proud.
This season we had 2 teams who made finals, a fantastic effort. The U16s fought a tough preliminary final but couldn’t get over Prharan.
To the U15’s made the Grand Final and fought a tough fight but the flag eluded them. Congratulations to you all and well done to these two teams who gave it their all, with continued persistence and perseverance 2017 is bound to be a cracker!
To Robert Amendola U13’s Div 2, Ethan Sherlock U14’s—Div 2, Nick Stathopoulos U15’s—Div 1 and Chris White congratulations on successful SMJFL interleague carnivals. To have both players and coach representing the club is fantastic.
Thanks to all the Coaches, Team Managers and their support staff for getting the kids out there and playing footy. You all should be very proud of how you have conducted yourselves as Dragons both on the field and off.
As with previous years as President I have had great support from the Committee and I would like to thank – Belinda Powell in her role as Secretary. To Pat Heverin as Vice President, Richard May – Treasurer, Jane Michael – Registrar, Anna Goodwill – Canteen Manager, Jim Hall – Bar Manager and Auskick Rep. On a social note, it was great to see so many of our life members return to the club for Life Member’s Day we look forward to strengthening out links with the past as we complete the transformation to the future with our new home expected to be ready in late 2017.
Thank you to our many club sponsors whose financial support over the season has been invaluable and hope that this continues in the future.
